The TARA Event honoring Bunny Chambers a huge success !! Last evening the Tulsa Area Republican Assembly hosted a night of awards and political celebrities as they honored past Eagle Forum President & National Committee Woman, Bunny Chambers ! U.S. Congressman Jim Bridenstine was on hand to present a Congressional Citation to Bunny for her almost 50 years of service to the Republican Party.
Pam Pollard, OK GOP Chair, gave a moving talk on how Bunny served as a mentor to her as she was coming up in the party. Shelley Brumbaugh honored Bunny with a Oklahoma House of Representatives Citation that her husband Rep. David Brumbaugh secured for the event. Charlotte Rutledge Harer presented a wonderful citation from the Ok Federation of Republican Women. Sandy Hodges, current Eagle Forum President, read a letter from Carolyn McLarty, that provided a little of the history that she and Bunny had shared over the years.
The last award came from the TARA organization, as President David Van Risseghem presented Bunny with the inaugural Joan Johnson Award. Joan Inhofe Johnson's son, Jeff Johnson, spoke on what it was like having an activist for a mom growing up. Bunny was moved by the amount of recognition for her service, humbly stating that the things she did was no more than the things that members of the event were doing everyday. Attendees listened intently as Bunny questioned her recent retirement and thanked her husband for being with her through it all.
