We will also ask our membership to take part in an endorsement vote, of the 4 Republicans competing in the May 9th special primary election for HD75.
Tulsa businessman, David McLain, was the overwhelming choice of the Tulsa Republican delegates, at the county convention, today, at Jenks High School.
Retired I.T. specialist, Terry Flattem, defeated chairman Mike Ford, to secure the Vice Chair office. Ford did not seek a 2nd term at the top spot.
Only one of the 6 incumbents in the Tulsa Republican party's central committee was elected to another term in office.
Incumbent Donny Tiemann (your TARA Secretary) was overwhelmingly re-elected  to represent the county party at the 1st District committee.
Amanda Teegarden returns to the committee, having served 4 years ago.
Dr. Lydia D'Ross will serve on the State Republican Committee, along with Mike McCutchin, who previously served as county vice chair & chair, until 2 years ago.

A crowded hall welcomed the 4 Republican candidates seeking the office of State Representative for House District 75 (vacated by Dan Kirby).  Tulsa Area Republican Assembly invited the 4 to introduce themselves and discuss the issues driving them to make a difference.
Nik Berg spoke about his concerns as a small business entreprenuer and the challenges of reflecting our values, especially to a generation of young voters who have a disconnect with conservatism.
Tressa Nunley discussed her vast experience and preparation for the job. She's an OU graduate and former Williams Communications employee. She has been a real estate agent for the past 12 years, as well as being a wife & mother.
She also emphasized her spiritual compass to guide her policy making decisions.
AJ Oatsvall talked about his passion for history, especially government history and the importance of remembering our past legacy and passion for liberty. He is a transplant from Iowa and active in the Tulsa community.
Skip Steele talked about his Tulsa roots and lifelong participation in Tulsa civics. Skip is a former city councilor from east Tulsa. He went into great detail about all his involvement in city planning. He also emphasized the importance of increasing support for public education.

Tulsa GOP Convention Preview

3/21/2017

Tonight, the Tulsa Area Republican Assemblies held a Convention Preview just days ahead of the Saturday County Convention. Every elective office in the party appears to be up for grabs. All the current office holders are so far indicating that they are not seeking to keep their office.
Allen Branch
David McLain spoke to the crowded hall about why he is stepping up to run for County Chairman. McLain narrowly lost a special election for senator, last year.

Allen Branch also indicated his intention to run for County Chair, but said he would support McLain if he is unsuccessful. Both candidates specifically pledged to open the county resources for the sake of precinct development. It was one of the most controversial policies that retiring chairman Mike Ford has instituted.  It led to the lowest turnout of precinct meeting participants since before Dewey Bartlett Sr. was governor.

Terry Flattem is the lone candidate for County Vice Chairman. Terry is a dedicated volunteer for the past several years. Recently, Terry says that chairman Ford kicked him out of the office and barred him from volunteering at the headquarters. Terry says that several precinct members needed to contact their local leaders and Flattem decided to accommodate the connection instead of waiting for chairman Ford to personally approve of the release of precinct information. This information has always been fully accessable to all party members and posted on the party website; until Mike Ford clamped down on the access.
